Continuity (encrypted setup backups)

Background Continuity agent
Teams — Continuity status (no shared keys)
Cloud is optional. Local projects work fully offline. Sign in when you want multi-Mac prefs, Live Links, Continuity backups, or fleet views.
Continuity backs up Rig setup state — registry, prefs, MCP, handoffs, vault{" "} ciphertext — not your repos. On enable you get a recovery key ( RIG-CONT-…) shown once. Lost key ⇒ cannot decrypt. Store it in a password manager.
With Continuity enabled, Rig can install a Login Item that launches a headless Continuity agent when you are logged in — so scheduled backups and remote Backup now still work when the main Rig window is quit. Toggle Background agent under Settings → Rig Continuity. Opening Rig later switches back to the full UI.
On a team’s member list, owners and members see whether each person has Continuity enabled, their last backup time, and Mac count. Ciphertext and recovery keys are never shared across the org.
- Create an account at{" "} api.userig.app/account {" "} (or from in-app Cloud settings).
- Sign in on the Mac → Sync now.
- On a second Mac: install Rig → same account → Sync now.
- Preferences, presets, last session, MCP settings
- Project registry / groups (path hints — not folder contents)
- Device list for fleet overview
- Source trees, node_modules, .git, build artifacts
- Raw .env / plaintext secrets
- GitHub PATs and device private vault keys
- Settings → Rig Continuity → Enable (on the Mac), or open Continuity in the cloud dashboard after enable.
- Save the recovery (and master) keys offline — never paste them into the browser or Support.
- Pick schedule (daily / weekly / custom) and retention in Mac Settings or{" "} Cloud → Continuity .
- Backup now from the Mac or queue it from the cloud dashboard on an online Mac.
- Restore on Mac only (unlock with your recovery key), then link/Teleport folders.
- List and delete cloud snapshots (device name, size, manual vs scheduled).
- Edit enabled / schedule / retention — open Macs and the Continuity agent pull newer cloud settings.
- Pick which Mac runs Backup now / Restore on Mac; the dashboard waits for command ack success or failure.
- Emails for manual backup start/finish and all failures. Scheduled start/finish stay in Activity only.
- Storage health, approximate next run, and prune preview before the next upload.
