App updates
Rig keeps itself up to date on both Mac and Windows. Please stay on the current version when you contact Support, because the fix may already be out.
On a Mac
- Rig for Mac uses Sparkle, the standard Mac updater. When a new version is out, Rig offers to install it and restarts itself.
- To check now, open Settings → Updates, or use Check for Updates in the Rig menu.
- There are two update feeds. The copy you download from userig.app/download is on the stable feed and only ever updates to stable, notarised builds. Beta builds go out on a separate feed. See Beta channel and releases.
- Apple Silicon and Intel Macs each get the right build automatically.
On Windows
- Rig for Windows checks userig.app for a new version while it runs and downloads it in the background.
- The update installs the next time you quit Rig from the tray icon. Open Rig again to use it.
- During the beta there is one update feed for everyone on Windows.
If updates fail
- Check the computer can reach
userig.app. Some company networks block update downloads. - Quit Rig fully (not just the window) and open it again; then check again.
- Download the latest installer from the download page and install it over the old app. Your projects and settings are kept.
