What is Rig?
Rig is a Mac app that discovers, starts, stops, and watches the processes behind your projects — with shared logs, ports, MCP for AI editors, and optional cloud for multi-Mac teams. It is a local-first control plane for development: one window instead of a pile of terminal tabs. Rig is not a hosted IDE, not a cloud coding VM, and not a replacement for Docker Desktop when you need containers. The Mac app stays useful offline; cloud is optional and never receives your source files. Laravel Herd and Valet still serve PHP; Rig sits beside them for Vite, queues, APIs, and agents. It is for solo developers and small teams juggling multi-service apps, Laravel or Valet, AI agents, and more than one Mac. Install from userig.app/download (macOS 13+, Apple Silicon or Intel). The app is free in beta. After install, add a project folder, start the detected processes, and optionally link Cursor or Claude to the local MCP hub.
